    At a disaster recovery meeting hosted by <\/span>MANNA Food Bank,<\/b> Mike met several local heroes whose stories exemplify the fund\u2019s success. Judy, from In His Hands Food Pantry<\/strong>, and Babara, from the Hunger Coalition of Transylvania County<\/strong>, were able to restore delivery capacity thanks to new trucks provided by the Grant Fund.     These leaders didn\u2019t wait for top-down solutions – they acted. The fund simply gave them the boost they needed to keep serving.<\/span><\/p>

    When Mike Darrow stepped into the role of Executive Director at the <\/span>North Carolina Association of Free Clinics (NCAFC)<\/b>, he inherited a legacy-defining achievement: a <\/span>$10 million, five-year grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation (BCBSNC). The grant had transformed the landscape of care for uninsured North Carolinians.<\/span><\/p>

    But there was a catch: BCBSNC made it clear\u2014this was a <\/span>one-time grant, never to be repeated.<\/span><\/p>

    The Challenge
